Zinedine Zidane would reportedly prefer to become Manchester United manager rather than join Bayern Munich.

Recent reports claim that the Bundesliga giants have shown an interest in Zidane’s appointment, with current boss Thomas Tuchel set to leave this summer. It comes amid repeated claims that United are also interested in the former Real Madrid manager, with Erik ten Hag under pressure at Old Trafford.

And French publication L’Equipe now claims that the Frenchman could turn down the Bavarian club after previous suggestions that he does not want to take up an international position unless it is the job in France. The report also claims that Zidane has one eye on the situation at United.

“Never say never,” Zidane told L’Equipe in 2022 when previously asked about a move to England. “Especially if you are a coach today.

“If I go back to a club, it is to win. I say this with all modesty. That is why I cannot just go somewhere. Also for other reasons. Certain circumstances make it more difficult. When someone says to me: ‘Do you want to Manchester?’ I understand English, but I don’t fully master it.

“I know there are coaches who go to clubs without speaking the language, but I work differently. To win, many elements play a role. It is a global context. I know what I need to win. Of course I win maybe not always.” , but I know you need this, this and this. And I want to do everything I can to optimize my chances of victory.’
