Forecaster Alan O’Reilly says there will be “very little rain through Thursday, but uncertainty remains after that.”

He added: “There is a risk of a low system with rain heading our way on Friday, but the track is unclear.”

Below is Met Éireann’s five-day forecast:

Monday: Cloudy early Monday morning over Ulster, extending to parts of the east and northwest in the morning and afternoon with the possibility of some light showers.

Elsewhere it is usually dry with periods of sunshine.

During the day, a moderate northerly wind will develop, occasionally turning fresh on the northeast coast. Highest temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees in Ulster and parts of northern Connacht, elsewhere ranging from 15 to 19 degrees.

OVERVIEW: Initially cooler with much dry weather, but increasingly unsettled by mid-week.

Monday night: Mostly dry with variable cloud, although there may be some spots of light rain or drizzle. Lows of 3 to 7 degrees, generally with mainly light to moderate northerly winds, fresher on some northern and northeastern coasts.

Tuesday: Cloudier at times in parts of Connacht and Munster with isolated light rain or drizzle. Drier elsewhere with periods of sunshine. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees generally, slightly cooler in northern parts, with light to moderate north to northwest winds.

Tuesday night: Clouds will build up in the north and west overnight, followed by light rain or drizzle. Elsewhere dry and mostly clear. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 5 degrees in general, milder in the western and southwestern parts, all with a light northwesterly wind.

Wednesday: A cooler day and fairly cloudy with some light rain and drizzle here and there, although sunny spells may still break through. Maximum 10 to 13 degrees in a weak to moderate northwest wind.

Thursday: Some uncertainty about the details, but current indications point to a cool day with outbreaks of rain, especially in Munster and Connacht. Drier elsewhere with most sun in the north. Highest temperatures from 8 to 11 degrees.

Further forecast: Changeable with occasional rain or showers. Can also become fluffy at times.
