Overview:

HSBC is looking for an experienced Associate Corporate Banking Support Manager at their Bangalore location. They will acquire, retain and grow Tech CMB’s client relationships for HSBC, while adhering to the Group’s values, business strategy, operating policies, regulatory requirements and risk management practices. Technology is a critical segment for Commercial Banking and this position is required to maximize the value of these relationships locally and internationally by working closely with group offices and product partners.

Roles and responsibilities:

The ideal candidate must be able to:

  • Building existing and acquiring new long-term relationships with the customers we want to bank, in line with CMB’s strategy to be the Leading International Trade and Business Bank.
  • Generating sustainable income from the existing customer portfolio and through targeted acquisition of new quality customers focused on technology.
  • Provide proactive and aggressive relationship building/customer contact plans and pipeline management for both existing and new customers, to deepen customer wallet penetration.
  • Generate quality assets through the use of appropriate risk management tools, appropriately priced for the risk and deliver superior returns within the client’s risk appetite.
  • Structure credit facilities for these technology companies to ensure an optimal balance between the interests of customers and HSBC while staying within the boundaries of prudent banking.
  • Working proactively to achieve the CMB Tech objectives.
  • Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of customer information on internal systems, as required
  • Ensure an up-to-date and accurate deal pipeline on CV
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell group products and services where necessary and ensure this is completed successfully for the bank and the customer.
  • Develop effective strategies to manage customer relationships, anticipate customer needs and provide superior quality service to position HSBC as a market leader in this segment.
  • Drive growth by increasing our liability share in the existing portfolio and generating deals that will lead to an increase in CUA balances.
  • Monitor their client portfolio regularly to ensure that returns match the client’s risk profile. Take timely and proactive corrective actions to limit potential losses and maximize profitability.
  • Cultivate relationships with intermediaries such as PE, VCs, law firms and more to generate referrals and deals in the tech space.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to generate referrals for internal stakeholders e.g. Private Banking, GBM, RBWM, where necessary to shield the customer.
  • Keep abreast of external factors impacting international business, e.g. economic, cultural, geographical, procedural and legal requirements
  • Stay abreast of developments in the new age/tech space and stay abreast of competitive proposals.
  • Take timely and proactive corrective actions to limit potential losses by exercising effective portfolio management and control.
  • Collaborate with product partners to identify customer needs and match them with relevant expertise; especially with GTRF, GPS, GBM, GPB and ISV.

Requirements:

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience managing complex commercial relationships with local and international needs
  • Robust commercial lending, risk assessment, experience in trade finance, in-depth knowledge of deposit products and of the concept of cash flows
  • Good level of business acumen and commercial awareness, including economic, cultural, procedural and regulatory issues
  • Experience in structuring credit deals for customers
  • Close collaboration with clients and intermediaries (lawyers/PE/VC/VD firms and more) in the technical space.
  • Ability to interact with business customers at all levels
  • Good understanding of business models, risk assessment and financial experience are a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent range of communication skills, including written and oral, and the ability to deliver engaging presentations
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong credit assessment skills, especially in relation to more complex and structured facilities.
  • Proven ability to deliver creative and flexible customer solutions.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of how New Economy/tech customers operate
  • Knowledge of capital account transactions, GPS, GB&M, RBWM, trading and GPB products and capabilities
  • Robust understanding of customer planning methodology
  • Broad personal connections within the group and outside the group (chambers of commerce and other associations).
  • Bachelor’s degree

Extra information:

  • Required to successfully complete the Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions training and post-course assessment as required.
