Tim David has been fined after the Australian cricket star was caught cheating during an IPL match.

David, 28, and Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard were caught on camera telling teammate Suryakumar Yadav to use a review to check a wide delivery.

New rules this year have allowed the use of DRS to allow batters to challenge ‘wide’ decisions made by umpires.

However, players sitting in the dugout are strictly prohibited from telling teammates on the field whether they should review or not.

Both David and Pollard were caught red-handed as they signaled for a review after seeing a replay of a delivery that should have been called wide.

Yadav immediately assessed it and Mumbai were given the wide, adding another point to their total and delivering the ball again.

David and Pollard committed a Level 1 offense under the IPL Code of Conduct, officials ruled.

The violation sets out that a player ‘shall not seek assistance from anyone outside the field of play in deciding whether to request a referral to the TV referee’.

In a statement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said: ‚ÄúDavid and Pollard were each fined 20 percent of their respective match fees. Both admitted the offense and accepted the match referee’s sanction.’
