A win over Real Madrid is the only thing that could help FC Barcelona fully recover. The loss to Paris Saint-Germain, which is largely self-sabotage, was the reason why La Blaugrana are currently in a bad mood. However, El Clasico has almost always offered Barcelona a chance for redemption.

This time they will have extra motivation to succeed. With the La Liga meeting between the two Spanish giants set to take place at the Santiago Bernabeu, Barcelona will want to go to Madrid and prove why they still deserve to have something to fight for.

Here’s how Xavi’s Barcelona could line up against Real Madrid.

Expected line-up:

Goalkeeper: Marc-André Ter Stegen

The German goalkeeper and Barcelona captain was handicapped by his team against PSG despite his best efforts. However, he will have them all fit to take on Real Madrid in the upcoming El Clasico and he will hope to keep Barcelona’s goal much more secure.

Be right back: Jules Konde

Typically, it is Ronald Araujo who takes on the right-back role in El Clásico. However, with Vinicius Jr playing more centrally these days, Xavi could eventually deploy Jules Kounde as the primary right-back, a position in which he has performed exceptionally well of late, even against the likes of Kylian Mbappe.

Midback: Ronald Araujo

Because his main task in almost every El Clásico is to contain Vinicius Jr. is, it seems that Ronald Araujo may have to play more centrally this time. The Uruguayan made a huge mistake against PSG that probably cost Barcelona the match. but he can still make up for it against Real Madrid.

Midback: Pau Cubarsi

The young centre-back was ruthless against PSG, and even though his team lost, the 17-year-old continues to amaze those who watch him with his maturity and quality. Now that Real Madrid is his next opponent, he has already stated how committed he is to feature in this clash.

Left behind: Joao Cancelo

Despite his experience, Joao Cancelo made some unusual blunders against PSG. However, now he has a chance to redeem himself against the likes of Real Madrid. In this match, Barcelona need their stars to show up, and Cancelo needs to do just that.

CDM: Andreas Christensen

Having been suspended against PSG, his absence was clearly felt in the lack of structure that Barcelona had. However, he should be available again for La Blaugrana, and it should give them a much-needed boost in a position where they desperately need it.

CM: Pedri

The Barcelona midfield magician has a lot of experience at Real Madrid. Despite his age, his creative and possessive sense surpasses that of even the most seasoned veterans, and that is exactly why he is an essential piece of the puzzle for Barcelona.

CM: Ilkay Gundogan

Previously, Ilkay Gundogan was the only Barcelona player to score on Montjuic against Real Madrid in the first Clásico. However, that defeat left a sour taste in his mouth, and this could be a good chance to finally get over the feeling of that loss and possibly beat Real Madrid.

Right wing: Lamine Yamal

In terms of his performances, the young Barcelona winger was phenomenal in the recent match against PSG. He single-handedly created many dangerous chances for Barcelona and will want to keep that confidence going into a match where he will certainly have to deliver more of the same against Real Madrid.

Centre-forward: Robert Lewandowski

Of the three starters against PSG, Robert Lewandowski was by far the most frustrating. However, he must now put that misery behind him and perform for Barcelona on the big stage against Los Blancos to ensure they make good progress and end the season on a better note.

Left winger: Rafinha

The Brazilian was undoubtedly the man of the moment against PSG in both legs. Scoring three goals against the Parisians within two legs, he continually thwarted them and caused problems. With this newfound confidence, Raphinha appears to be in the form of his life and should be a guarantee against Real Madrid.
