Cirque du Soleil has announced that its long-running show, The Beatles LOVE, will close on July 7. The show based on the music of the Fab Four has been running for 18 years and has been played to 11.5 million people. While it’s big news that one of Las Vegas’ most famous shows is closing, the bigger news is that its departure signals that the Mirage’s transformation into the Hard Rock is in earnest. Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat have already closed, followed by the volcano, which will be replaced by a guitar-shaped hotel tower. No final schedules have been announced, but there are currently no plans to close the casino completely at any time.

Wick: Ever-expanding entertainment complex AREA15 has announced it is teaming up with film studio Lionsgate to create the John Wick Experience. Based on the John Wick films, the 12,000-square-foot attraction will take guests on a John Wick adventure. It is not clear whether the Wick Experience will be in addition to or a replacement for a previously announced Universal horror attraction.

Ferraro is forked: Ferraro’s Ristorante, the non-casino restaurant across the street from Virgin Las Vegas, has received the Tre Forchette (Three Fork) award from Gambero Rosso International, a magazine and media group considered one of the world’s top authorities on Italian food and wine . Only eight other American restaurants have earned the title.

Q: Now that the blackjack mini-tournaments are no longer at the Downtown Grand, are there any others in town?

Answer: Not currently; that’s what made this one so special. However, the Downtown Grand hosted a larger open blackjack tournament with a low buy-in this month, which could become an ongoing event.
