South Asian Vietnam may be described by the World Bank as a lower-middle-income country, but it has the world’s first gold-plated hotel. Built on a street corner overlooking the picturesque Giang Vo Lake, the Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake hotel is equipped with gilded bathtubs, sinks and even toilets. There is a 24-carat gold-tiled infinity pool on the roof. In addition, the bathrooms are decorated with yellow metal. About 2,000 pounds of gold was used to decorate this five-star hotel.

According to ‘The Sun’, guests are offered a buffet, served on gold plates, with gold cutlery from gold trays. The golden splendor doesn’t stop there, even the food has a touch of gold. Gold-wrapped Tomahawk steaks are one of the popular delicacies, but the staff may sprinkle gold flakes on the food.

The hotel even serves dishes with edible gold flakes, and the rooms have gold cups next to the coffee maker with gold-colored details. For an event at the hotel, models were even painted in gold.

Dubbed Southeast Asia’s most luxurious hotel, the Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake has many flashy suites, with prices ranging from GBP 250 to GBP 800 for a night.

This socialist’s only five-star hotel is owned by Nguyen Huu Duong and operated by the American brand Wyndham Hotels.

A gilded hotel built in a socialist republic with a one-party system led by the Communist Party is juxtaposed with the other buildings in the area, which consist largely of grim Soviet-era structures.

With a total GDP of $465.814 billion, the communist-led country currently ranks 35th. The country has a GDP per capita of $4,626 and ranks 123rd on that list.
